What do we mean by "freeform"? The term comes from a radio format in which DJs have complete control over what's played -- and anything goes. More on the history of the format here.
The Broome FMG takes its inspiration from an East Village institution called "Record Club," a monthly, invitation-only listening party in existence since 1998, when CD burners were just becoming affordable. What will we do at the Broome FMG? Everyone brings a song or two -- depending on numbers we may have more than one round of play. We'll listen to one another's selections without being told in advance what's going to play: no disclaimers, no apologies. When the track's done you can tell us what it was and why you brought it. Any form, genre, time period goes.
At the end of the night we'll burn a disc you can take with you.
For now we'll play tracks from CD. Eventually we'll be open to playing from vinyl if you'd like.
So pack some tracks to Apt 712 at 6:00 Sunday the 30th -- and bring an appetite.
