Downtown Book Club: Winter Read!

Hi, all. At our discussion of Audre Lorde's ZAMI last week we renewed our decision to read Michael Chabon's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel THE AMAZING ADVENTURES OF KAVALIER AND CLAY, an historical-fiction romp through the twentieth century: immigration, comic books, golems, Houdini-like escape artistry, the Empire State Building, gay history, and the Cold War -- all in one package!

It's long enough that we decided as a group to order it now, read it over break, and discuss it early next semester.

In the meantime, I'll be distributing via pdf a brief excerpt from Luc Sante's LOW-LIFE, a popular history of the Lower East Side in the 19th century, which we'll discuss Wed, November 14, at 8pm.

To RSVP for either club meeting, email bryan.waterman@nyu.edu by Sunday, Nov. 4.

NEW MEMBERS & ALL STREAMS WELCOME!
