Please pardon my hawking of engagement in leveling the access playing field at NYU:

Now in its second year, the 1831 Fund is an initiative led by a core group of students invested in giving back to the NYU community. The Fund allows seniors to make donations, which in turn create much-needed scholarships for incoming freshmen and transfer students. For each dollar raised, President John Sexton has pledged to match every donation dollar for dollar, meaning that a $1000 scholarship for a student easily becomes a $2000 one. And to help raise the stakes and foster friendly competition, a $5,000 scholarship will be given to the school with the best participation rate (the most donors per graduating seniors).
