A week that is as fun, indulgent and vital to NYU students as it is stressful, crazy and rewarding to NYU residential staff.
Broome had a succulent bevvy of exciting and diverse Welcome Week events on offer so we hope those of you who attended events had a great time (and maybe made a few new friends along the way!)
The first event of the week was a Karaoke Night in the 5th Floor lounge hosted by 5th Floor R.A. Michael Doshier. The classics were belted out (and by "classics" we mean Britney, N 'Sync, Destiny's Child & Madonna) and copious amounts of Thai food was consumed!
Here are a few little snaps of the event...
The week proceeded with even more fervor, frenetic energy and free food!
There was Kayaking on the Hudson with 6th Floor R.A. Daniel Kao (which escalated into a race around the pier with other NYU Residence Halls!)
An inspiring trip to MoMA was enjoyed in the company of 9th Floor R.A. Celeste Hudson and some sports-mad residents attended a tense match at the US Open with 3rd Floor R.A. Alice Tsui.
Mid-week there was a dusk walking tour of the Brooklyn Bridge, hosted by 2nd Floor R.A. Z Naddaf. A beautiful sunset was taken in by Z & the residents who attended. Thanks so much to resident Anna Tatelman for these gorgeous photos she took from the event...
Our FFIR's (Faculty Fellows in Residence) held some scrumptious events of their own. With FIIR Michael (along with 4th Floor R.A. Darius Jones) leading some eager residents on a Cheap Eats Tour of the neighborhood. Later in the week FIIR Michelle (with 5th Floor R.A. Yana Kusayeva) made some delicious sandwiches for lucky residents in her apartment before hittin' the Restaurant Supply Stores on Bowery for some kitchen essentials!
On the weekend Lombardi's pizza was scoffed and The Royal Tenenbaums viewed with 8th Floor R.A. Anton De Ionno. To cap a sweet Welcome Week off- 10th Floor R.A. Rashida Kamal hosted an extra-sweet ice cream sundae party ("Sundaes on Sunday") in the 5th Floor lounge (where bowls were literally licked clean.)
Thanks so much to all the residents that came along and all the residential staff and FIIR's who ran the events! If you have any photos of your own from any of the Welcome Week events, feel free to email them through to R.A. Anton De Ionno at adl411@nyu.edu
And don't forget- just because Welcome Week is over, doesn't mean there aren't a million wonderful events for you to enjoy at Broome in the near future. There are Floor Events happening every week on every floor of Broome and a long list of varied and exciting Stream Events happening for Broome residents all over New York City!
