Join Brad, Jo, and Benny this Monday for a lecture
by renowned philosopher and historian of science, Ian Hacking, entitled...
“What Happened to Autism?”
How does a new kind of person come into being? Infantile autism was first diagnosed in Baltimore, in 1943. It was known but rare by the time Dustin Hoffman acted the part of an idiot savant in Rain Man, 1988. Now everyone knows about autism. Full page ads this year in the Sunday New York Times read– "Odds of a child being diagnosed with autism: 1 in 150." And autism is for life. What happened?
We invite everyone at Broome Street to attend, but this event is particularly relevant to those in HEALTH, PHILOSOPHY and BIG IDEAS streams.
Join us afterwards at the event’s reception and discuss Hacking’s insights!
