How To Get 'The Book of Mormon' Tickets

How To Get The Book of Mormon Tickets:

All It Takes Is $27, 4½ Hours in Line, and a Comfortable Pair of Shoes

by Dylan Jarrett

Everyone knows that it’s completely impossible to get tickets to The Book of Mormon. This musical, which was written by the guys who created South Park, has been sold out for literally half a year in advance, and for good reason. It is by far the most side-splittingly hilarious show to ever hit the Broadway stage. So of course, tickets aren’t available until next summer. But what if I told you that there was a way to get a ticket for any time you wanted, and even better, a really cheap one? Well believe it or not, there is! So here it is, your step-by-step guide to getting standing room tickets for The Book of Mormon.

Step 1: Pick a day you don’t have any plans. Be at the Eugene O’Neil Theater at least four hours before the show (or four and a half if you want to be on the safe side). And bring an umbrella just in case it rains, because you will be spending a lot of time outside.

Step 2: Join the line that’s forming outside the box office. You’re now waiting to buy a standing room ticket, which means that you’ll be standing behind the last row of seats in the orchestra level of the theater for the performance. This may seem awful, but these are actually pretty good tickets. Plus, as long as you’re wearing comfortable shoes, you don’t even realize you’re standing.

Step 3: Wait. Tickets go on sale an hour before curtain, so you’ve got some time to kill. Make friends with the people in line with you. They’re usually pretty cool, but just in case they’re not, bring a book or a friend with you.

Step 4: Buy your ticket. $27 is almost nothing for one of the most coveted tickets in New York. Reward yourself with some McDonald’s, because the show starts at 8 and you won’t have time for a real dinner.

Step 5: Go see the show. Enjoy yourself. Laugh your head off, because I can almost guarantee that The Book of Mormon will be the most hysterical and offensive show you have ever seen.

Step 6: Go home and brag about getting to see one of the most incredible shows of all time. Yeah, you spent nearly seven hours straight on your feet. Yeah, you waited in line for three and a half hours in the rain or snow or whatever other awful weather you had. But it was worth it in the end. Because you finally got to see The Book of Mormon.
