Broome for Boobs!

The Broome Community Group needs your help with one of our major fundraisers/service projects of the year. We're sending a team to walk in the Avon Breast Cancer Walk in October. This team of current and former Broome residents has worked for ALMOST TWO YEARS toward this goal, and prior to that, several groups of students from Broome (and, before that, from Water St.) have gone to the walk simply to cheer.

Our team needs collectively to raise $10,000 -- a tall order, we know, but we're already past the half-way mark! Each of our walkers needs to have $1800 in the bag in order to participate. And you can help us in several ways!

First, we know from the recent election cycle that even small donations add up. To that end, we ask you to think carefully about what you could personally donate, making this a major service activity not just for our BCG team, but for the entire ResCollege as well. Even small donations of $5, $10, or $15 will help us reach our goal prior to next month's walk. Here's the link.

Second, PASS THAT LINK -- AND THIS CHALLENGE -- ALONG TO FRIENDS AND FAMILY MEMBERS!

Your parents and grandparents and godparents and aunts and uncles can help us reach this goal! Ask them to match your pledge, or to double match it! This is without a doubt the largest community fund-raising project the ResCollege has ever undertaken. Perhaps they would like to donate in memory of a cancer survivor or victim. Or perhaps they'd just like to show you support in a community project that means a lot to you. (Again, here's the link!)

Third, look out for our in-house collection jars and other fund-raisers. There's a jar at the security desk. You can leave donations there. Coming soon we'll have T-shirts (with the logo above!) for you to purchase and support our cause. Wear your (love of) boobs on your sleeve!

Finally, you can join BCG. We'll be sending a team of students to cheer on our walkers -- and you're welcome to join! Plus we'll be planning a variety of other service events throughout the year.
