What are you doing to conserve energy?

We are currently in the second week of NYUnplugged -- the energy saving competition between our residence halls.  The winning building will receive a free brunch!  To check out your building’s progress go to: www.nyu.edu/sustainability/nyunplugged

To bring increased attention and awareness to sustainability and civic engagement, we have declared Tuesday, November 9 - Tuesday, November 16 to be Green Apple Week.  During Green Apple Week, your hall will be producing a variety of initiatives to promote sustainability and civic engagement.  Below are some ways that you can engage in Green Apple Week and make an impact in your community:

---Donate items to the Grand Central Neighborhood organization supporting the homeless population in Midtown.  Donation boxes will be found in/near your lobby during Green Apple Week (November 9 - 16).  The following is a list of requested donations: Office Supplies, Professional Attire, Winter Clothing, Duffle Bags/Suit Cases, Unused Hand Towels and Bath Towels, Toiletries, Blankets, Pillows, Sheets/Pillow Cases, Individually Wrapped Food Items (i.e. granola bars, fruit snacks, chips, raisins, juice boxes, etc).

---Support National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week (which begins on November 15) by attending Bridging Communities: Forum on Homelessness & Hunger sponsored by the NYU Civic Team on Tuesday, November 16 at 7pm in Kimmel 802. Free food will be provided at this event.

---Fill out a Green Apple pledge card-pledging an action toward sustainability or civic engagement-and be entered into a drawing for free movie tickets (1 drawing/building).

---Get a free reusable bag at Flurry (November 9 from 6-10pm at Wollman Rink: $5).
