1. It was pretty close to a tie between ECONOMY and POLITICS, tipped toward the latter if you combine the number of people who mentioned domestic politics with the number who mentioned the ARAB SPRING and OCCUPY WALL STREET.

2. Also closely related, but more abstract: HUMAN RIGHTS and PERSONAL FREEDOM.
