WEDNESDAY, 11/9, 8:00 pm, Palladium Multipurpose Room: "What Matters Most in 2011?"

Head up to Palladium for this gameshow-style debate on the topic "What Matters Most in 2011?" (You'll remember that we polled you all on that question earlier in the semester.) The Res College totally has top billing for this event: Bryan, Michelle, and Rogan will offer three of our top items/events of 2011. We'll also be joined by students from IRHC and NYULocal. We'll make our cases for the things we've chosen, the audience (you!) will vote, and by the end of the night we'll have come up with a list of 11 things from this year we all think will have the most lasting significance. Come lend your support for your FFiRs and see how we stack up. No RSVP required. Food/snacks provided. Let one of us know that you're there and we'll make sure it counts toward your Broome program requirements. If you'd like to leave from Broome, meet RA Drew & other residents in the lobby at 7:30 to migrate to Palladium together.

THURSDAY, 11/10 -- Learn to knit ... & serve!

Join Broome's "Stitch and Give" for an afternoon of knitting. Find out how the Residential College and Broome Community Group (BCG) partners knitting with community service. Deepen your NYU networking AND knitting skills at the same time! All levels of knitters welcome. No previous experience required. Knitting materials will be provided. Counts as community service! THURSDAY, 11/10 -- @ Gallery 412 Open House / Panel: Art & the Millennial Gen

Come by Broome 412 to check out the "Open/House" exhibit currently on display at Professor Michelle Dent's apartment. See for yourself what's creating a buzz among young and emerging artists. Learn about alternatives for marketing and exhibiting art, and learn tips about buying art. Participate in an engaging and intimate discussion with artists Gail Rothschild, Kit Warren, Julie Tremblay, and Scooter LaFarge. Curator Cat Weaver, host Michelle Dent, and special guests Bryan Waterman and Philip Rotter will lead a discussion about twenty-somethings and art connoisseurship. Refreshments will be served from the Lower East Side's landmark specialty food shop Russ and Daughters. Chic attire preferred, but grunge threads will be okay too. This gallery show addresses themes that include dream-work, childhood edginess, mail-art, knitting, shrines, pornography, the relationship between text and textile, and The Odyssey as seen through the eyes of Penelope. Because the exhibit space is in the home of Professor Michelle Dent, it is an "Open House" in the most literal sense, and the show necessarily examines the public/private boundaries that we ordinarily associate with the concepts of house and home.

FRIDAY, 11/11, NYU NIGHT at Museum of the Moving Image

Meet RA Jason in the Broome lobby at 4:30pm (or other students meeting in the Kimmel Lobby at the same time) if you'd like to travel with a group. No RSVP Required. Free museum admission, refreshments, and a 10% discount at the museum gift shop; bring your MetroCard. The highlight of the museum, right now, is an exhibit on Jim Henson's Muppets, on the occasion of what would have been Henson's 75th birthday.
