Campus Event: Shabbat for 2000
On February 28th 2014, 2,000 NYU students, faculty, parents, and friends will come together for the largest student-run event in the country: Shabbat for 2000. Gearing up to this event, Hillel NYU is organizing a canned food drive throughout the month of February. The cans collected will be benefitting Masbia Soup Kitchen and Food Bank of New York City. Through Shabbat for 2000, we will be providing Shabbat dinner for 2,000 people (students, guests, faculty, parents) from various backgrounds and communities and through this social action initiative, we are trying to broaden our reach and feed far more than 2,000 people. Drop off boxes are located in the lobbies of Alumni Hall, Bronfman Center, Carlyle Court, Gramercy Green, Green House, Kimmel, Lafayette, Palladium, and Weinstein. We are also running a virtual food drive where people can donate money in the form of meals at http://tinyurl.com/ s2kgivesback. Through this initiative, we are trying to feed hundreds of people and raise awareness for world hunger.
